Copy of your Property Survey: This helps identify any easements, building setbacks on both sides and rear of property, plus any other restrictions on the property. If you do not have a survey (you can contact your municipality to see if they potentially have one on file) or hire a surveyor.

Septic and Well Water locates: If you have these systems it is a good idea to have a company locate the drain fields, tank (s) if they are clearly not marked on your survey. If it is an old survey you may want to update. If you are unsure contact your designer and they can give you a list of surveyors to contact.

Let’s have some fun grab a 100’ garden hose, measuring tape and some stakes or flags:
Pool Area: Take the garden hose and layout on the lawn the shape you think you would like your pool to be. Think about how deep you want it: standard (3’shallow-6’ deep end), play pool (3’shallow-6’center-4’ end), lap pool etc.
Spa: Want a spa add another hose (standard round spas are usually 6’ to 6-1/2’). By doing this you will have some basic ideas on the shape and size that you want.
Pool Deck: Take your stakes/flags and place them around the garden hose to get an idea how large you want the size of the pool deck area.
